How does the 2-in-1 candle and diffuser work?
Our signature vessel is designed to transform effortlessly between a candle and a reed diffuser.
Simply choose how you'd like to enjoy it — as a candle or a diffuser.
To switch from candle to diffuser, allow the vessel to cool completely, then place it in a bowl of hot water for approximately 5–10 minutes. Any remaining wax will soften and float to the surface, making it easy to remove. Once the wax has been removed, wash the vessel thoroughly with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely before adding your diffuser oil, lid and reeds.
To switch back to a candle, simply remove the diffuser oil, wash and dry the vessel thoroughly, then insert a candle refill.
You can switch between the two as often as you like, creating different fragrance rituals without ever needing to replace the vessel.
Important: The vessel must always be thoroughly cleaned between uses to remove any flammable oil residue before using it as a candle.

Is it safe to use the diffuser after using it as a candle?
Yes — as long as the vessel has been properly cleaned between uses.
Before switching from candle to diffuser (or vice versa), wash the vessel thoroughly with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely.
This removes any remaining wax or oil residue and ensures safe, effective use.
How do I clean my vessel between uses?
Allow the vessel to cool completely before cleaning.
If you're removing a candle refill, simply place the vessel in a bowl of hot water for around 5-10 minutes. Any remaining wax will soften and float to the surface, making it easy to remove.
Once the wax has been removed, wash the vessel thoroughly with warm soapy water and allow it to dry completely before adding a new candle refill or diffuser oil.
Always ensure all oil residue has been removed before using the vessel as a candle.
Can I buy everything separately or do I need a starter set?
You can purchase all elements individually, or choose one of our starter sets for a complete introduction to the Hope & Wild system.
Will the vessel get damaged from switching between uses?
No. Our handcrafted ceramic vessels are specifically designed to be reused as both candles and diffusers.
With proper care, they can be enjoyed for years to come.
What size are the vessels?
As each vessel and diffuser lid is individually hand-thrown, slight variations in size and shape are part of their character.
Our standard vessel size is approximately 8cm (W) x 9cm (H).
What makes your candles different?
Every Hope & Wild candle is designed with both sustainability and performance in mind.
We use 100% natural rapeseed and coconut wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and carefully selected sustainable fragrance blends that are vegan-friendly, paraben-free and phthalate-free.
The result is a cleaner, longer-lasting burn and a luxurious fragrance experience designed to be enjoyed again and again.
Why do you use rapeseed and coconut wax?
We chose rapeseed and coconut wax because it provides a cleaner, longer-lasting burn than many traditional candle waxes.
It's sustainable and naturally renewable, vegan-friendly and allows our fragrances to perform beautifully whilst producing minimal soot and smoke.
How long do the candles, diffusers and tealights last?
Our products are designed to provide a long-lasting fragrance experience throughout your home.
Candle Refills: Approximately 50-55 hours of burn time.
Reed Diffusers: Approximately 3–4 months, depending on room temperature, airflow and the number of reeds used.
Scent Discovery Tealights: Approximately 4–6 hours per tealight.
For the best candle performance, trim the wick to 5mm before each burn and avoid placing your candle in draughty areas.

Yes — all Hope & Wild products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
Where are your products made?
Our candles and diffuser oils are hand-poured in our workshop here in Hampshire, and our ceramic vessels and diffuser lids are individually hand-thrown by our skilled British ceramist also based here in the UK.

Yes — our entire system is built around refilling and reusing.
We offer both candle refills and diffuser oil refills, available to purchase individually or as part of a flexible subscription. This allows you to continue enjoying your handcrafted vessel long after your first fragrance has finished.
Simply choose a new scent or reorder an existing favourite and enjoy your vessel again and again.
